What is BBL HEROic?

If you’re considering a light-based treatment to support the appearance of skin clarity and tone, BBL HEROic® (BroadBand Light) may be suitable for concerns such as sun-related pigmentation, uneven tone, visible redness/flushing (case-dependent) and acne management support (case-dependent). At Eleventh Heaven, we start with a consultation to assess your skin, explain suitability, alternatives, expected recovery and risks.

BBL HEROic is a medical-grade broadband light treatment that delivers controlled pulses of light to the skin. The settings are adjusted based on your skin type, concern, and treatment area. It is not the same as a laser; it uses specific light wavelengths to target certain skin components (such as pigment or visible redness), with the goal of improving overall skin appearance over a series of sessions.

Consultation first: We review your skin goals, medical history, prior treatments, and skincare. We’ll explain realistic expectations, downtime, risks, and alternatives.

Treatment:

• The area is cleansed; protective eyewear is used.

• You may feel brief warmth or a snapping sensation during pulses.

• Some areas can feel more sensitive than others.

Time: Many sessions are completed within 15–35 minutes, depending on areas treated.

After the session: It’s common to experience temporary warmth/redness and mild swelling. Pigmented spots may appear darker (“coffee-grounding”) before gradually fading. Recovery varies depending on settings, skin type and treatment area.

Who it may not be suitable for

BBL HEROic may not be suitable for everyone. Your clinician may advise against treatment (or recommend preparation first) if you have certain medical conditions, active infections, recent tanning, particular medications, or specific skin-type considerations.

How many sessions might be recommended?

The number of sessions varies depending on your skin concern, skin type, and how your skin responds. Many patients choose a series (for example, several sessions spaced weeks apart), followed by maintenance as advised.

We’ll provide a personalised plan during your consultation, including what you can realistically expect and what to avoid between sessions.

Risks and side effects

All procedures have risks. We aim to minimise these through careful assessment, appropriate device settings, and aftercare guidance.

Common and expected effects (usually temporary):

• Redness, warmth, mild swelling

• Sensitivity/tenderness

• Dryness or mild flaking

• Temporary darkening of pigment (before fading)

• Mild crusting in targeted pigment areas

Less common risks:

• Blistering or burns

• Prolonged redness or swelling

• Infection (rare)

• Scarring (rare)

• Changes in pigmentation (hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation), which may be temporary or persistent

• Reactivation of cold sores (if prone)
