What are MINT nose threads?

At Eleventh Heaven Brisbane, we offer doctor-led consultations for non-surgical nose contouring using PDO (polydioxanone) threads. PDO is a biodegradable suture material widely used in medicine. In suitable adults, carefully placed threads can support nasal soft tissues to refine bridge definition and tip contour. This is a non-surgical approach and does not replace rhinoplasty. Results are temporary and typically require periodic review.

How it works (overview)

During the in-clinic procedure, PDO threads are positioned along planned vectors to support the nasal profile. As PDO gradually dissolves (often around 9–12 months, timelines vary), it may encourage collagen formation, helping maintain contour. Visible changes can be seen soon after placement and then evolve as the area settles. Individual responses and longevity vary.

Who may consider a PDO nose thread plan?

  • Seeking a slightly higher/straighter bridge (within anatomical limits)

  • Wanting subtler tip definition or rotation, if suitable

  • Prefer a non-surgical option or are not ready for surgery

  • Looking for refined profile balance after clinical assessment

Final suitability is determined at a doctor-led consultation, considering your nasal anatomy (skin thickness, cartilage, support), goals, and medical history. Alternatives (including choosing no procedure) will also be discussed.

Risks, effects & recovery

All procedures carry risks. Common, usually short-lived effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising and temporary dimpling. Less common risks include infection, thread visibility/palpability, asymmetry, contour irregularities, and thread migration/extrusion. Rare complications can occur. Many people return to routine activities soon after; experiences and timelines vary. You’ll receive personalised aftercare and a review plan.

Seek urgent assessment if you experience severe pain, colour changes, spreading redness, fever, or any other concerning symptom.
