What is HALO® Hybrid Laser?

HALO® is a hybrid fractional laser that uses two wavelengths in the same session—typically described as ablative 2940nm and non-ablative 1470nm—to address both surface and deeper skin layers in a controlled, fractional pattern. The goal is to support gradual improvement in the appearance of tone and texture, with recovery that varies.

What concerns may HALO® be considered for?

Depending on your skin type and assessment, HALO laser resurfacing may be considered to improve the appearance of:

• Sun damage and uneven pigmentation (including sun spots/age spots)

• Uneven tone (dyschromia) and dullness

• Rough texture and enlarged pores

• Fine lines (appearance)

• Selected acne scars or superficial scarring (appearance)

How does HALO® work?

Fractional laser energy creates controlled micro-zones that support the skin’s natural repair processes. HALO combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in one session, aiming to address both surface renewal and deeper textural change over time. Changes are progressive, not instant, and vary between individuals.

What to expect

Before
We review your medical history, medications, pigment risk, skin sensitivities and current skincare (including actives). We’ll outline downtime expectations, aftercare and sun protection.

During
Topical numbing may be used. Sensation varies (warmth/heat is common). Settings are tailored to your skin type and goals.

After
Redness, swelling and a “bronzed/sandpaper” texture can occur. Flaking or shedding is common as the skin renews. Redness can intensify over the first few days (often peaking around day 3) and may persist up to ~7 days depending on intensity.

Results and number of sessions

Results are progressive and vary based on your skin, concern and treatment intensity. Some people choose a single session; others consider staged treatments or maintenance as advised after assessment.

Risks, side effects and important information

All procedures carry risk. Side effects are usually temporary, but uncommon and rare complications can occur.

Common (usually temporary)

• Redness, swelling, warmth/tenderness

• Dryness/tightness, rough “sandpaper” texture, bronzing

• Flaking/shedding during healing

• Temporary darkening of pigmentation before it lifts

Uncommon

• Prolonged redness or sensitivity

• Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (darkening) or hypopigmentation (lightening), especially in pigment-prone skin

• Cold sore (HSV) flare in those with a prior history (preventive medication may be considered)

Rare but potentially significant

• Blistering/burn, infection

• Scarring

• Persistent pigment change

• Eye injury if eye protection is not used correctly
